Comedian Dewayne White Turns Life's Hardest Moments into Laughter

BY Dr. Brian King

Hey gang, this month I’m in Montreal at the Just For Laughs festival rubbing shoulders, snapping selfies, and trying not to embarrass myself around some of the biggest names in comedy. But don’t worry. I’ll be leaving Paddy’s Comedy Club in very capable hands. Comedian Matthew Jackson will be hosting the show and we’ve got an incredible headliner lined up for you!

Originally from Washington, D.C., Comedian Dewayne White brings a distinctly East Coast energy to the stage. His delivery is direct, his observations are sharp, and his stories come from a life that's given him more than enough material to work with. Before becoming one of the fastest-rising comics in the country, Dewayne served as a combat-wounded Army veteran. Add in marriage, fatherhood, and the daily absurdities of modern life, and you've got the ingredients for comedy that feels authentic because it is authentic. What makes Dewayne stand out isn't just what he's lived through; it's his willingness to talk about it with honesty and humor. Dewayne has shared stages with some of comedy's biggest names, including Josh Blue, Mark Normand, Sal Vulcano, and Jo Firestone. Through Armed Forces Entertainment, he regularly performs for military personnel stationed around the world. He's also performed at legendary venues such as the Comedy and Magic Club, The Laugh Factory, Funny Bone. On July 23rd he'll be bringing that same energy to Paddy's Comedy Club!

The best comedy helps us see our own lives from a different angle. Dewayne White does exactly that. He takes life’s challenges, frustrations, surprises and occasional disasters and reminds us that sometimes the healthiest response is simply to laugh. So come out and see the show. Be nice to Matthew while I’m gone and I’ll see you all next month. Or, as they say in Montreal, À bientôt!
