I just got back from the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, and I want you to know that I wore my Paddy’s Comedy Club t-shirts every single day while I was there. That’s right—I was out there representing our little corner of the comedy world and spreading the word about our shows. So, if hordes of Canadians suddenly start showing up at Paddy’s asking for poutine, smoked meat, and directions to the nearest hockey rink, you’ll know exactly who to blame. Our featured comedian this month is no stranger to the festival scene. Daniel Van Kirk has performed at the Moontower Comedy Festival in Austin, JFL 42 in Toronto, and Just For Laughs in Montreal—the very festival I just returned from. (Although I should mention, Daniel probably packed fewer souvenir bags of maple syrup than I did.)
His comedy album Thanks Diane made an immediate impact, debuting at #1 on Apple Music, and he followed that success in 2024 with his acclaimed comedy special Rose Gold. Many fans also know Daniel from his work in television and film, appearing in projects including FOX’s animated favorite Bob’s Burgers, Amazon Prime’s Ballard, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, and the feature film Wine Club on Amazon Prime. Comedy Central recognized his talent by naming him a “Comic To Watch,” an honor that highlights not only his ability to make audiences laugh, but also his growing influence in the comedy world. Daniel has also built a dedicated following through his popular podcasts Pen Pals and Dumb People Town, where listeners get to experience his quick wit, curiosity, and conversational style. What makes Daniel Van Kirk special is that he doesn’t just tell jokes—he finds the humor hidden inside the strange, awkward, and wonderfully imperfect moments that make up everyday life. His comedy reminds us that we’re all a little ridiculous, and that’s exactly what makes us human.
I’m going to miss the comedy energy of Montreal, but on August 20th, I’ll be bringing a little piece of that magic back to Fayetteville when Daniel Van Kirk takes the stage at Paddy’s Comedy Club. And trust me, you’re not going to want to miss it.
