Dear Alice,

I can’t get aroused with my girlfriend and I’m too embarrassed to go to the doctor. I asked my friend at work for advice, and he said that a hot tea bag placed on your nutsack right before sex causes the blood to surge to that area and a massive, long-lasting erection occurs. Is that true?

It’s not a “nutsack” - it’s a scrotum. Your scrotum is the pouch of loose skin hanging behind your tallywhacker that houses your testicles. It keeps them nice and cool so they can produce healthy sperm. Why would you put a scalding hot tea bag anywhere near that area? Your “friend” is a gobshite. Lots of men find themselves playing a sad trombone at some point in their lives. Don’t be embarrassed about going to see your doctor. It’s a very common condition. There is a variety of safe and effective medications out there that can help you get back in the saddle with confidence.
