Damien Lugo – The Soulful Singer

Damien Lugo lives just a mile away from Paddy’s Irish Pub. He is a patron as well as a performing musician – Damien Lugo and the Halo of Vultures. Americana, soul, and hip-hop are some of the musical genres from which he draws inspiration. Names such as Aesop Rock, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, and Jason Isbell drip from his lips as influences. His music has a soulfulness, and his voice is, at times, haunting.
He began writing music around the age of thirteen. Now, decades later, he says he has much more to say than he did as a teen. He enjoys the creative side of being an entertainer. Smiling wide, he tells me it isn’t the feeling of nausea before a show that is his favorite part of performing, but rather the reaction from his listeners that moves him.
Lugo is curious about life and dabbles in all types of art. “I’m overly ambitious,” he says. In addition to music, he draws, paints, works with stained glass, and has a clothing line. He is also a successful tattoo artist at Brighter Shade Tattoo and New Addiction Tattoo. If that isn’t enough, he also has a new EP coming out in December. He usually plays guitar when he performs live. But Lugo plays all the instruments on the EP. Check him out at The Fayetteville Art Attack in the Church on December 18th.
