Dear Alice
Advice from an Irish Mother
Dear Alice,
While on my way to work last Monday morning, my car suddenly stalled less than a mile from home, so I had to walk back to the house. When I got there, I found my husband prancing around the living room in my lingerie and wearing make-up. I’m devastated. What could have caused this?

Dear Bonnie,
Start by checking that there’s no debris in the fuel line. If it’s clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold. If this doesn’t solve the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber.
