Paddy’s Public House Party
BY Patrick Gibney
Many people today are concerned with the times we’re living in. Many don’t know where to turn, or what to believe. Some say we’re living in the last days; others say there’s so much more to come. Whatever the case, you can trust that Paddy’s will always be looking for new ways to entertain you while you try to figure that shit out. In the last few years, we have introduced craft cocktails and great food, pro karaoke, live comedy, musical bingo, world-class trivia, dance lessons from Roland’s Dance Studio, various craft workshops on the patio every Wednesday evening that is followed by the art extravaganza, Art Attack, in The Church, and more, to go along with top-shelf live music and the best DJs in the region.
Recently, we added a new entertainment concept to our repertoire, The Paddy’s Public House Party. It happens every Friday night on the pub side of the venue. Instead of live music (which will be on Saturday nights only), we will be featuring the area’s top DJs in a house party style atmosphere. This will differ from the club experience in The Church in that the DJs will be playing a mixture of different songs and music styles that are designed to create a lighter party atmosphere where people can talk or dance and sing at the same time – something you might find at a house party. So, why are we doing this? Well, for that answer, The Oily Discharge sat down with Paddy’s very own dynamic duo – Jessica Corona (Managing Partner) and Erin Burkett (General Manager).
“We have noticed a clear drop off in interest when it comes to live music,” said Erin. “So, the plan is to introduce different musical genres into the pub environment, orchestrated and presented by our team of DJs, while the club next door in The Church is in full swing.” Jessica added, “We had our first EMO-themed night recently and it went incredibly well, so we are excited to introduce other Friday house parties that highlight periods like 70’s Disco, 80’s Big Hair, Reggae, and maybe 90’s Grunge.” As the song goes, the future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.
