ADDALYN – Shiny Metal Music

BY Elaina J. Martin

Paddy’s showcases so many different styles of music, from DJs providing dance tracks to blues to rock (not to mention all the karaoke singers). You can also catch some metal bands, including Addalyn. The band, composed of Connor Faulk, Tristan Thomas, Nick Dimitrakis, and Matt Carson, is a high-energy group that came together in Summer 2024. Frontman Faulk calls their music metal, but he and the others are influenced by all types of music, including rap, country, folk, bluegrass, and emo. As a younger teenager, Faulk saw something missing in the industry: Where was the Metallica, Van Halen, Slipknot, and My Chemical Romance of yesteryear? The band was created to fill a void.

Thomas and Faulk have been playing together since they were in middle school; the two high school graduates now attend FTCC. From the beginning, Faulk was writing lyrics for Addalyn. The band’s first album, “Fallen Angel,“ is made up of seven original songs. Faulk says that Dimitrakis - who often writes the guitar solos, rhythm, and bass parts to the songs - is “The best guitar player he has ever seen. He is fantastic.” Each band member has his favorite song, but for Faulk, it’s “Love You After Death.” The band may sound too loud for some, but Paddy saw something in them at an open mic night and told them he loved their energy and asked the band to play at the Halloween show.

Though not a punk band, Addalyn had shows in Greensboro where the punk scene can get behind their loud energy. They have performed at Art Attack. At the weekly meetup of creative people and artists, the band sold $300 worth of merchandise, including T-shirts and signed posters, a testament to their growing audience. You can catch some of the band's loud energy on April 23rd when the band plays again at Art Attack.
