Yeny BOOM!

BY Patrick Gibney

When I sat down with my fitness and lifestyle coach recently, Yenaira “Yeny” Rodriguez, I asked her what the philosophy is behind her personal training and wellness business, Health First Sculpting. “In a word, resilience,” she said. “Resilience is the ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change. Resilience leads to discipline, and discipline leads to the best version of yourself, doing your absolute best every single day and living your life with intention.” What a brilliant answer. And from what I’ve seen from working with her for the last few months, Yeny not only teaches and does business this way, but she also lives her life this way, too. Health First Sculpting was born out of the health and fitness boom created by the Covid 19 pandemic, and the fact that so many people were stuck at home. She began posting photos, meal plans, and exercise routines on Instagram of her own fitness and lifestyle journey, and when it began to resonate with so many different people, she decided to start her own business. She hasn’t looked back since. “When my first online client lost 100 lbs, I screamed “BOOM!” That word stuck and became a mantra for achievement for me and all my clients. That’s why I’m known as Yeny Boom on Instagram.”

Yeny, 45, was born and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Working since she was 13 years old; Yeny comes from a close family who stressed the importance of education and hard work. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Puerto Rico, graduating with honors. She worked in the banking industry for 5 years, while still working independently as a personal trainer; a vocation she’s had since age 16. She married her husband, Reimundy, in 2011, and they moved to the US in 2012 when Reimundy joined the US Army. “We wanted to start a family, and we felt the US was the best place to do it.” They have a beautiful 7-year-old boy named Jatniel, whose name means ‘Gift from God.’ So, who or what inspires Yeny? “Sylvester Stallone is a huge inspiration. His dogged, stubborn persistence and belief in himself eventually paid off. This is what I teach to my clients. I help to develop good habits that last a lifetime and upon which a safe, healthy, and happy lifestyle can be built.”

You can contact Yeny on Instagram or come and meet her in person every Wednesday evening at Art Attack.
