The Best Is Yet To Come – The Aireona Rogers Story
BY Patrick Gibney
When 25-year-old (26 on August 18th!), Aireona Rogers, interviewed for a bartending position at Paddy’s, she was one of four applicants who were vying for two jobs. What stood out about her most was her genuine desire to be part of our organization. It was an easy decision to hire her. A year and a half later, she has become an excellent mixologist and a model employee. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Aireona endured a somewhat turbulent childhood which included being adopted by her stepdad when she was five. She didn’t meet her biological father until she was fifteen. Overall, she has eleven brothers and sisters. People in Utah sure do have a great deal of sex, but I digress.
Despite having all those siblings, Aireona grew up with her cousins, and she is still close to them today. As a kid, she wanted to be a fashion designer. She also loved to write journals, and this has stayed with her up to the present day. She has been married to her husband, Steven, for over six years. They moved to Fayetteville in 2020, when Steven was in the army, and they have two beautiful children. Aireona feels that her past experiences proved to be a source of strength and conviction when she became a wife and a mother. “I learned a lot about family and being a parent from my childhood. We are happy living in the Fayetteville area. It’s a good environment for the kids. And we really love our house. But some day we would like to live at the beach.”
Aireona has a fairly good idea of what she wants in the future. “The plan is for Steven to be happy and successful in his career after the military, and I plan to make a ton of money after I publish my first book.” A voracious reader, Aireona also continues to journal, and she feels that writing is her true calling. “My passion is writing. I would do it every day if I could. I really believe I can write at a high level, and my goal is to pursue a career in that field.” Her influences include the life and work of author, JK Rowling. “One of the most compelling things about Rowling is that, in the early days of her career, she was writing Harry Potter while working as a server. So, why can’t I?” Why not, indeed. Aireona is writing a great deal of poetry presently, while chipping away at her first fantasy nonfiction novel. As she gets ready to celebrate her birthday she feels like she has come a long way and learned a great deal. “I have learned not to worry about what other people think. It’s none of my business. It’s important to do what’s best for you and your family.” Amen to that. Good luck, Aireona. The best is yet to come.
